Hooking up the instrument

When you first get your instrument you might be a bit confused about how to hook things up.  There will be laminated sheet that will tell you some quick instructions for the safe use of the instrument.  In addition you will find a book called "Guidelines for Measuring Plant Moisture Stress with a Pressure Chamber".  This will be a wealth of knowledge for the beginner.

If you have a Model 600, 603, 670, 1000 or 1003 you will need to hook up the instrument to the Portable Tank or other nitrogen source.

If you have a Model 610, it has a internal tank and does not require any attachment to the tank.  You just need to fill the tank with nitrogen and you will be ready to make measurements.

If you have a Model 615, the tank should be already attached to the instrument as it is a self-contained unit.  You will need to fill the tank with nitrogen and you will be ready to make measurements.

To hook up and operate any of the other pressure chambers you must have the following 3 items:

1) Pressure Chamber Instrument
2) Portable Tank or Nurse Tank
3) 6 foot filling hose

First, connect the Filling Hose to the Portable Tank

Next, connect the filling hose to the instrument
You will need to pull back on the coupler on the Instrument to get a proper connection
Pull gently on hose to ensure properly connected

Your system should now look like this
You are now ready to make measurements
