Super Chamber

For years we have received requests for large custom sized chambers.  We are now offering 6 sizes of  "Super Chambers".  We can also make a custom sized chamber to fit your needs.

    
Left is a 24 inch deep chamber that is 4.0 inch inside diameter set in a 15 Degree Stand.
Right is a 12 inch deep chamber that is 2.5 inch inside diameter set in a 15 Degree Stand.
Both chambers are fit with our Compression Gland Sealing System.


 
The Vertical Stand - simply hold the chamber vertical for normal PMS readings. 
The above stand is a powder-coated stand for the 4.0 Inch Chamber.

The Super Chamber is a custom made chamber made to fit your needs.  You choose from the options below and we make the chamber of your choice. 

Description
The chambers are made of premium 304 stainless steel tube stock.  The bottom and top are welded in place and all chambers have our classic lug type lids.  Chambers are available in either 2.5 inch or 4.0 inch  inside diameter.  The length however, can be from 12 inches up to 24 inches long (inside dimension).  Chambers have an operational pressure range of 0-600 PSI/ 0-40 Bar.  The chambers are hydrostatically checked to 3000 PSI/ 200 BAR to ensure metal integrity for safety.  Each chamber is fitted with a Safety Valve to ensure the lid is properly installed when pressurizing the chamber.

What is it used for?
The Super Chamber can be used to accomodate a very long sample for plant water potential readings.  It can also be used in the 15 Degree Stand to collect xylem water from very long samples.  This angled stand allows xylem water to drip off the end of the sample.  The Super Chamber is primarily a research tool. 

How is it used?
A Model 600 Pressure Chamber supplies all necessary control and measuring of nitrogen pressure.  This instrument is modified to accept the Super Chamber as an external accessory.  A valve is installed into the Model 600 to allow the user to switch from the internal Model 600 chamber to the external Super Chamber.  The user can use the Model 600 for taking measurements of normal sized samples and the Super Chamber for doing work with large samples.

How does it seal samples?
All chambers use our Compression Gland Sealing System to seal samples in the lid.  We now have Compression Gland Gaskets and Compression Gland Inserts in the following sizes (1/8", 1/4", 3/8", 1/2").

How do you order it and how much does it cost?
Below are some popular sizes of the chamber that will help in ordering and pricing.  We try to stock all 6 of these sizes in order to facilitate quick and easy ordering.  All instruments below come with the following as standard equipment:  Model 600 Pressure Chamber Instrument fitted with Compression Gland Sealing System, 6 Foot Filling Hose, O-Ring Lubricant, 5 Extra 1/4 inch Compression Gland Gaskets, 1 Standard Sealing Gasket - Blank, Valve Adjustment Tool, Complete Technical Bulletin.  Model 600 is modified with valve and hardware to accept the Super Chamber as an accessory.  Super Chamber of your choice listed below will be complete with lid, hose and hardware to connect to Model 600, 5 Compression Gland Gaskets of the size you desire and a matching Compression Gland Insert.
